Service Charge Accountant

About the role
Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Service Charge Accountant to join a growing finance team in Birmingham. The role involves full ownership of day‑to‑day service charge accounting for a diverse property portfolio, offering a chance to make a significant impact within a thriving business.
Key responsibilities
- Assist Property Managers in setting, reviewing and managing annual service charge budgets.
- Lead the preparation of year‑end service charge accounts, ensuring accurate expenditure reporting and timely distribution to leaseholders.
- Perform comprehensive bank, supplier and balance‑sheet reconciliations on a regular basis.
- Monitor outstanding service charge arrears, issue demands and manage debt recovery in line with company policy.
- Produce accurate monthly and quarterly management reports, highlighting variances against budget.
Required profile
- Relevant experience in service charge accounting.
- Motivated professional able to take full ownership of responsibilities.
