Shift Assistant Estate Manager

About the role

The Shift Assistant Estate Manager will lead a multidisciplinary shift team within a large facilities‑management organisation in Birmingham. You will ensure efficient, cohesive service delivery across the estate and manage day‑to‑day performance of the acute shift crew.

Key responsibilities

• Directly manage a team of seven electricians, mechanics and fabric personnel.
• Collaborate with other Assistant Estate Managers to maintain a seamless estate service.
• Oversee planned, corrective and reactive maintenance tasks during the shift.
• Deliver toolbox talks and trade‑specific training to develop staff competence.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and employee appraisals.
• Manage rota coverage, absence and utilisation to ensure continuous operation.

Required profile

• Relevant qualification in Electrical (Level 3 Electrical Installations, 18 Edition, AM2) or Mechanical (City & Guilds Level 2/3 Mechanical Engineering, Plumbing or Pipefitting).
• Demonstrated experience in estate or facilities management, preferably in a hospital or similar commercial environment.
• Strong organisational skills and ability to lead a diverse technical team.
