Site Engineer

About the role

John Sisk & Son is seeking a Site Engineer to lead setting‑out, dimensional control and quality assurance on construction sites. The role involves coordinating with planners, suppliers and subcontractors to ensure works meet drawings, specifications and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set out works in accordance with drawings, specifications and site surveys.
• Liaise with project planners to align construction programmes and supplier outputs.
• Inspect materials and works in progress for compliance with requirements and Sisk Q10 standards.
• Contribute to Inspection and Test Plans and ensure test data from the supply chain meets contractual technical requirements.
• Raise and resolve RFIs with employers, suppliers, subcontractors and statutory authorities.
• Maintain quality records, method statements and inspection documentation.

Required profile

• Minimum three years post‑qualification experience in construction or a project‑based environment.
• Strong numeracy and communication skills, able to produce clear written and verbal reports.
• Independent, professional attitude with the ability to influence senior management.
• Working knowledge of Control of Temporary Works; Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) qualification is advantageous.

Required skills

• Degree or Diploma in Engineering.
• SMSTS certification.
• MSIC certification.
• First Aid certification.
• Lifting Supervisor certification.
• Temporary Works Coordinator training (TWC).
• Chartered status or progress towards chartered status with Engineers Ireland or the Institution of Civil Engineers.
