Site Manager – Construction & Civil Engineering

About the role

Galliford Try is seeking an experienced Site Manager to lead civil engineering projects across multiple regions in the UK. You will be responsible for delivering works safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards while coordinating with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with approved standards, health & safety regulations, and quality requirements.
• Work closely with site supervisors to plan, control, and execute all on‑site activities.
• Liaise with client representatives and subcontractors, providing daily and weekly reports to the regional Project Manager.
• Issue and control permits to work, enforce safe‑working practices, and maintain a zero‑harm culture.
• Maintain accurate site records, approve risk assessments and method statements, and manage problem‑solving and negotiations on‑site.
• Deliver projects within defined timescales and budgets while adhering to Galliford Try’s business management systems.

Required profile

• Strong team player with a solid understanding of civil engineering works.
• Focused on health, safety, and quality standards.
• Excellent communication skills for managing subcontractors and client interfaces.
• Proven ability to maintain accurate documentation and uphold security of works.
• Experience in planning, controlling, and delivering construction projects.
