Software Engineer II – Backend

About the role

Socure is building the identity trust infrastructure for the digital economy, verifying good identities in real time and stopping fraud before it starts. The company seeks engineers who move fast, think critically, act like owners, and care deeply about solving customer problems. As a Software Engineer II – Backend you will design, build, and operate scalable backend services that power identity verification and fraud‑prevention products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and operate backend services, APIs, and microservices.
• Develop reliable, secure, and maintainable production software.
• Work on distributed systems, asynchronous workflows, messaging, and event‑driven architectures.
• Contribute to technical design and make thoughtful engineering trade‑offs.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve system reliability and observability.
• Participate in code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, and engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with globally distributed, cross‑functional teams to solve customer and business problems.

Required profile

• Practical software engineering experience building backend applications or services.
• Strong programming skills in Go, Java, Python, or a comparable backend language.
• Good understanding of data structures, algorithms, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems fundamentals.
• Experience working with SQL and/or NoSQL databases.
• Understanding of asynchronous processing, messaging, retries, fault tolerance, and service‑to‑service communication.
• Familiarity with cloud‑native technologies such as AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka or equivalent.
• Understanding of source control, automated testing, CI/CD, and modern software development practices.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical problems methodically and take ownership of solutions through production.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
