Software Engineer – Python/Django – Birmingham – Hybrid

About the role

We are seeking a mid‑level Software Engineer with strong Python and Django experience to join our delivery team in Birmingham. The role supports critical digital systems that help the UK achieve Net Zero by 2050, working on workflow automation, forecasting engines, analytics dashboards and more.

Key responsibilities

• Write, test and maintain high‑quality, secure, and reliable Python/Django code.
• Implement features following engineering standards and architectural guidance.
• Participate in automated testing, code reviews, and continuous improvement of the codebase.
• Contribute to feature‑level design discussions and ensure solutions are maintainable and scalable.
• Deliver work items from design through development, testing and deployment, providing accurate estimates and early risk reporting.
• Collaborate closely with Product, QA, DevOps, UI/UX, Principal Engineer and Architecture partners.

Required profile

• Mid‑level software engineer with a solid foundation in Python development.
• Proven ability to work autonomously while collaborating within cross‑functional teams.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a focus on delivering high‑quality software.
• Willingness to learn from senior engineers and adopt modern engineering practices.
