Software Testing Engineer – Defence (SC Cleared)

About the role

Meritus Talent is recruiting a Software Testing Engineer for a defence client in Stevenage. The role involves end‑to‑end testing and validation of real‑time software components used in simulation and emulation environments, supporting products throughout their lifecycle.

Key responsibilities

• Translate technical requirements and customer needs into comprehensive software test plans and specifications.
• Execute progressive testing, lead investigations into defects, and support software integration, trials and technical demonstrations.
• Analyse software logs and test data to verify compliance and produce detailed validation reports for certification purposes.
• Collaborate with software, systems and engineering teams to resolve issues and improve product quality.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering end‑to‑end software testing and validation within large‑scale or technically complex programmes.
• ISTQB certification or an equivalent recognised software testing qualification.

Required skills

• Strong Python programming.
• Experience with HP ALM, IBM ALM/ETM, DOORS and JIRA.
• Agile/Scrum development methodology.
• Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and software verification & validation processes.
