Solicitor Advocate / Barrister – Band 2 (Liverpool)

About the role

Within this role you will provide advocacy, advisory and drafting services to Keoghs LLP. Training will be delivered by senior members of the team. The position is based in Liverpool with occasional travel to Manchester, Bolton and court locations.

Key responsibilities

• Undertake advocacy, drafting and advisory work, including complex fraud defences, interlocutory hearings, small‑claims and fast‑track trials, CCMCs, sanctions and recoveries.
• Assist senior team members in delivering the above work and mentor Band 1 advocates.
• Develop technical expertise in Keoghs’ core practice areas and build niche specialisms.
• Deliver advocacy and litigation training updates for fee‑earners.
• Participate in client‑facing and product development tasks as required.
• Support the development of the in‑house advocacy team and obtain higher rights of audience where needed.

Required profile

• Full practising certificate if a Barrister; or Higher Rights of Audience (or demonstrable related experience) if a Solicitor.
• 3‑10+ years post‑qualification experience, preferably with trial exposure.
• Experience in insurance fraud, general personal injury, employer‑liability / professional‑liability, costs, large loss or professional negligence matters.
• Ability to produce high‑quality paperwork with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to complete the external course to qualify for Higher Rights of Audience if not already held.
