Speech and Language Therapist – Specialist Children’s Services

About the role

We are seeking a part‑time Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist to join the Specialist Children’s Services team at Barrhead Health and Care Centre. The role involves delivering assessment, diagnosis and therapy for children and young people with communication, eating and swallowing difficulties, working closely with families and a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose and provide tailored therapy programmes for children and young people with speech, language, communication and swallowing disorders.
• Manage an autonomous caseload, prioritising risk and need while supervising Clinical Support Workers.
• Participate in clinical supervision, peer review, operational management and Care Aims processes.
• Collaborate with the SLT Team Leader/Manager to review referrals and coordinate onward referrals to CAMHS, OT, physiotherapy and educational psychology.
• Evaluate therapy outcomes using evidence‑based practice and maintain accurate clinical records in line with professional standards and data protection legislation.

Required profile

• Registered Speech and Language Therapist (HCPC‑registered) with experience working with children and young people.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong organisational skills to manage a specialist caseload and supervise support staff.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and evidence‑based practice.
