Systems Accountant

About the role

We are seeking a Finance Systems Accountant to own and evolve the finance technology landscape for a national charity based in Birmingham. You will lead system optimisation, drive automation and support strategic decision‑making through enhanced reporting and analytics.

Key responsibilities

• Operate, optimise and develop all finance systems on a day‑to‑day basis.
• Manage system upgrades, integrations and new implementations, including cloud migration of Sun and rollout of purchase‑order and forecasting tools.
• Serve as the primary liaison with external technology partners and developers.
• Map, improve and standardise finance processes, embedding automation and AI‑enabled solutions.
• Maintain data integrity, strong controls and compliance across all systems.
• Support creation of dashboards, reporting tools and advanced analytics.
• Train finance colleagues on new systems and processes.
• Manage one Management Accountant and oversee monthly management reporting.

Required profile

• Qualified finance background (accounting qualification or QBE) with experience in management or financial accounting.
• Proven track record of implementing, upgrading or integrating finance systems.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to influence stakeholders.
• Experience managing or mentoring junior staff.
