Systems Engineer

About the role

The Systems Engineer is responsible for coordinating, supporting, managing and executing L2 proactive and reactive maintenance activities to ensure continuous availability and SLA performance of customer services. The role works within defined system support guidelines and collaborates with multiple teams to resolve faults and improve network performance.

Key responsibilities

• Perform L1 fault management, incident handling and level assurance support.
• Operate and maintain data and system delivery solutions, supporting the 2nd‑level team to meet network availability targets.
• Prioritise faults, investigate alarms, and resolve root‑cause issues in accordance with SLA/WLA.
• Coordinate emergency response and stakeholder communication when required.
• Participate in internal discussions to recommend improvements for overall network performance.

Required profile

• Degree in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
• 2‑6 years of practical experience in IP/Data/System/ISP/Enterprise environments.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle end‑customer issues.
• Proven ability to influence, persuade and mobilise internal and external resources.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, capable of delivering clear reports.

Required skills

• Proficiency with *nix systems, especially RedHat Linux.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP and protocol suites (ARP, ICMP, TCP, UDP, TFTP, DNS, HTTP, NTP).
• Experience with DNS, RADIUS, DHCP, NTP and other ISP technologies.
• Knowledge of multi‑vendor server hardware (Oracle, HP, Cisco, NetApp).
• Familiarity with unified/hyper‑converged platforms (Dell VxRail, Cisco UCS).
• Virtualisation expertise (VMware ESXi, VSAN, KVM).
• Understanding of network routing/switching protocols and load balancers.
