Systems Engineer – L2 Maintenance & Support

About the role
The Systems Engineer is responsible for coordinating, supporting, managing and executing L2 proactive and reactive maintenance activities to keep customer services continuously available and meeting SLA performance levels. The role requires a security clearance and works closely with multiple internal teams and stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
- Perform L1 fault management, assurance support and incident management activities.
- Operate and maintain data and system delivery solutions (O&M) at L1‑FM level.
- Support the 2nd‑level team to achieve network availability targets.
- Prioritise faults to meet SLA/WLA and investigate alarms and root causes.
- Coordinate emergency handling and liaise with stakeholders such as MSIP.
- Manage alarms, trouble tickets and conduct fault investigations.
- Participate in internal discussions to improve overall network performance and provide recommendations.
Required profile
- Degree in Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
- 2–6 years of practical experience in IP/Data/System/ISP/Enterprise environments.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to handle end‑customer issues.
- Result‑oriented, able to influence and mobilise internal/external resources.
- Excellent problem‑solving, multi‑tasking and strategic thinking abilities.
- Effective communication skills for reporting to peers and management.
Required skills
- Proficiency with *nix systems, especially RedHat Linux.
- Understanding of TCP/IP and protocols: ARP, ICMP, TCP, UDP, TFTP, DNS, HTTP, NTP.
- Experience troubleshooting complex server networks and ISP technologies (DNS, RADIUS, DHCP, NTP).
- Knowledge of multi‑vendor server hardware (Oracle, HP, Cisco, NetApp).
- Familiarity with unified/hyper‑converged platforms (Dell VxRail, Cisco UCS).
- Virtualisation experience (VMware ESXi, VSAN, KVM).
- Understanding of network routing/switching protocols and load balancers.
