Teaching Assistant – Special Needs School

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Special Needs School in Birmingham. The role focuses on providing one‑to‑one support for children with autism, helping them achieve academic and personal growth in a nurturing environment.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 1‑2‑1 support tailored to each child’s autism‑related needs.
• Assist the class teacher in delivering inclusive lessons and activities.
• Facilitate the development of social and communication skills through structured tasks.
• Manage behaviours using positive reinforcement and de‑escalation techniques.
• Build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents to ensure consistent, personalised support.

Required profile

• Experience working with children with autism or other special educational needs.
• Commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff, and families.
• Strong organisational and communication skills.
