About the role
We are recruiting a full‑time Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Islington, supporting Year 6 pupils. You will work closely with class teachers to help children understand tasks, stay focused, and make progress across all subjects.
Key responsibilities
- Provide support across all Year 6 classes, both in small groups and one‑to‑one.
- Assist teachers in preparing learning resources and lead small‑group sessions in English, maths and reading.
- Support pupils with Special Educational Needs, ensuring they receive additional help during lessons.
- Help pupils understand learning objectives and keep them on task.
- Collaborate with teachers to monitor progress and adapt support as needed.
Required profile
- GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and maths.
- Strong English and maths skills with the ability to support pupils academically.
- Experience working with children, preferably as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational role.
- Ability to work effectively with pupils who have SEN and to deliver small‑group instruction.
