Team Manager – Adult Social Care First Contact (Leicester)

About the role

Leicester City Council is looking for an experienced Team Manager to lead its Adult Social Care First Contact team. The role is full‑time, hybrid and initially for a three‑month fixed‑term period, offering a fast‑paced environment where quick decision‑making is essential.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the First Contact team, ensuring timely and effective responses to urgent adult social care cases.
• Manage risk assessment and crisis intervention when limited information is available.
• Provide regular supervision, coaching and training to team members.
• Collaborate with internal and external partners to maintain high service standards.
• Monitor performance metrics and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker, fully registered with Social Work England.
• Proven experience managing statutory adult social care services.
• Background in a “front door” or first‑contact adult social care team is highly desirable.

Required skills

• Leadership and team management.
• Risk assessment and crisis decision‑making.
• Knowledge of adult social care legislation and best practices.
