Technical Licensing Officer

About the role

We are looking for Technical Licensing Officers to join our Property Licensing Team in Hackney. The role is career‑graded, offering development and progression while helping improve the lives of residents. You will report to the Principal Licensing Officer and support the delivery of property licensing schemes.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct thorough and accurate casework, including technical assessments, for property licensing applications submitted by residents and landlords.
• Provide high‑quality customer service, responding promptly to enquiries and guiding stakeholders through the licensing process.
• Verify that properties meet all licensing requirements and remain compliant with current housing legislation and council policies.
• Work collaboratively with residents, landlords, agents, and internal teams to resolve issues and promote safe, well‑managed homes.

Required profile

• Demonstrate strong attention to detail and excellent organisational abilities to manage multiple cases efficiently.
• Interpret and apply housing legislation accurately, ensuring compliance throughout the licensing process.
• Show empathy and professionalism when interacting with residents and landlords, understanding the impact of poor housing on health and wellbeing.
• Exhibit outstanding written and verbal communication skills, clearly explaining licensing requirements and procedures to diverse audiences.
