Test and Run Technician

About the role

The Test and Run Technician works in Speedy’s Edinburgh depot, carrying out basic electrical and mechanical testing, servicing and cleaning of hire equipment returned from customers. The role ensures that all tools and plant are safe, presentable and ready for the next hire.

Key responsibilities

• Perform basic electrical tests on equipment (12/24 V).
• Carry out mechanical inspections and functional checks.
• Service, clean and prepare returned items for re‑hire.
• Maintain accurate records of testing and servicing activities.
• Support the depot team in delivering Speedy’s ESG strategy.

Required profile

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Previous experience in the hire industry or a related engineering environment is desirable.
• Ability to work safely in a busy depot environment.

Required skills

• Basic electrical skills (12/24 V).
• Basic mechanical skills.
• Ability to use hand and power tools effectively.
