Trainee Accountant – Graduate Finance Role

About the role

Klarent Hospitality is expanding its finance team at the Glasgow head office and is looking for a motivated graduate to join as a Trainee Accountant. This entry‑level position provides hands‑on exposure across commercial finance, statutory reporting, VAT, tax, treasury and group accounting, and supports progression towards a professional accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA or ACCA).

Key responsibilities

• Support preparation of monthly and quarterly management fee, rent and inter‑company invoicing.
• Assist with cost recharges, including capitalised labour and travel costs.
• Maintain trackers for corporate and property‑level costs and support internal recharge processes.
• Help with balance‑sheet reconciliations and month‑end/quarter‑end close activities.
• Provide treasury support, including cash reporting, bank postings and monitoring cash positions.
• Maintain fixed‑asset registers and support audit and statutory reporting processes.
• Assist with VAT returns, supporting schedules and payment processing.
• Support compliance filings such as Companies House and ONS requirements.
• Collaborate with management accounting, financial accounting, tax and treasury teams.
• Contribute to continuous‑improvement initiatives across the finance function.

Required profile

• Recently graduated (or about to graduate) in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related discipline.
• Strong numerical ability with a genuine interest in finance and commercial reporting.
• Well‑organised, detail‑focused and committed to accuracy.
• Proactive, curious and eager to learn in a fast‑moving hospitality environment.
• Interest in technology and AI and how they can be integrated into financial processes.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, XLOOKUP/INDEX‑MATCH, Power Query, robust modelling).
