Trainee Water Hygiene Technician

About the role

This full‑time trainee position offers hands‑on experience in water hygiene across commercial and industrial sites in the West Midlands. You will work both independently and as part of a team, receiving full training and support to develop specialist skills.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out temperature checks, dip‑slide sampling and bacteriological sampling of water systems.
• Inspect, clean and disinfect cold‑water storage tanks, hot‑water calorifiers and shower heads.
• Descale, dismantle, re‑assemble and flush water‑related equipment.
• Maintain and disinfect cooling towers, humidifiers and other heating/cooling plant.
• Operate water‑treatment dosing equipment and perform chemical dosing to required levels.
• Conduct closed‑system testing and assist with remedial works on domestic, industrial and process water systems.

Required profile

• Full driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across Berkshire and the West Midlands.
• Reliable, conscientious work ethic with the ability to work autonomously.
• Physically fit to handle manual tasks and equipment.
• Motivation to learn and progress within the company.

Required skills

• Water hygiene monitoring (temperature checks, dip‑slide and bacteriological sampling).
• Inspection and cleaning of cold‑water storage tanks and hot‑water calorifiers.
• Descaling, disinfection and re‑assembly of shower heads and related components.
• Operation of water‑treatment dosing equipment and chemical dosing.
• Closed‑system testing of domestic and commercial water systems.
