Training Officer – Fixed Term (Subway Operations)

About the role

Join the Subway Operations Training Team at Strathclyde Partnership for Transport and help equip staff with the knowledge and skills needed to run Glasgow’s iconic subway safely and efficiently. This fixed‑term position focuses initially on training Operational Control Centre personnel and expands as the Subway Modernisation Project progresses.

Key responsibilities

• Create, develop, prepare and deliver training programmes for Subway Operations staff.
• Support the Lead Training Officer and Head of Service Operations & Security in curriculum design.
• Deliver initial training for Operational Control Centre staff and subsequent programmes as new projects roll out.
• Produce CGI and interactive e‑learning content to aid technical understanding.

Required profile

• Training qualification (City & Guilds, MOI or equivalent).
• A1 or D32/33 Competence Assessor qualification.
• Digital Skills qualification (EDSQ or FSQ) – desirable.
• Experience designing, delivering and managing workplace training programmes.
• Knowledge of operational or customer‑service environments; transport or railway experience is a plus.
• Strong presentation, coaching and mentoring abilities.
• Highly motivated, reliable and able to work under pressure.

Required skills

• Training authoring tools for interactive e‑learning content creation.
• CGI production for technical training materials.
