Transport Compliance Manager – Greater Manchester

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Transport Compliance Manager to lead compliance across a mixed commercial fleet in Greater Manchester. The role ensures that all vehicles and drivers operate safely, efficiently and in line with UK transport legislation.

Key responsibilities

• Manage all aspects of transport compliance for a mixed fleet of commercial vehicles.
• Ensure adherence to transport legislation, operator licence requirements and company procedures.
• Monitor driver hours, Working Time Directive compliance and tachograph data.
• Conduct driver debriefs, identify trends and implement coaching measures.
• Oversee vehicle inspection programmes, statutory testing schedules and maintenance compliance.
• Plan preventative maintenance and ensure regulatory checks are completed on time.
• Review maintenance records, inspection reports and take corrective action where needed.
• Coordinate vehicle repairs to minimise operational disruption.
• Support health and safety initiatives and promote a strong compliance culture.
• Manage and develop transport personnel, including performance management and recruitment.
• Produce compliance reports and recommend continuous improvements.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of UK transport legislation and drivers' hours regulations.
• Experience in fleet compliance, transport operations or logistics management.
• Proven ability to manage vehicle maintenance compliance and regulatory documentation.
• Experience conducting driver compliance reviews and coaching interventions.
• Strong leadership and people‑management capabilities.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Confidence communicating with stakeholders at all levels.
