Arctic Transport Planner

About the role

The purpose of the role is to develop a compliant, effective and profitable daily transport plan and manage fleet resources to ensure business requirements and customer satisfaction are delivered at all times.

Key responsibilities

• Review, allocate and schedule jobs for the Artic fleet using the company Transport Management System (TMS) to maximise operational performance.
• Liaise with drivers throughout the day to ensure vehicle resources are available and safe.
• Optimise fleet resources and operations to improve profitability and customer service.
• Assist the Head of Artics with transport activities and road‑transport compliance policies.
• Enter waste transfer notes, weighbridge tickets and job requests accurately into the TMS.
• Reconcile billing information daily to ensure accurate invoicing.
• Generate and analyse Vehicle Performance Reports and other TMS reports.
• Coordinate investigations of road‑transport accidents and ensure toolbox talks are delivered.

Required profile

• Strong organisational and planning abilities with the capacity to work under pressure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Good geographical knowledge of London and the South East.
• Previous experience in a planning role within a busy transport office.
• Experience dealing with internal and external customers and service providers.
• GCSE grade A‑C level education and a positive, respectful attitude.
• Team‑player who demonstrates versatility and willingness to learn.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Knowledge of the PurGo system.
