Utility Plant Operator

About the role

The Utility Plant Operator is responsible for daily on‑site technical management of wastewater and waterworks facilities for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. This role ensures compliance with DNR permits, oversees utility operations, and serves as the primary point of contact with regulatory agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and administer the institution’s wastewater and waterworks utilities.
• Maintain compliance with Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources permits and regulations.
• Plan, schedule, and supervise maintenance and upkeep activities.
• Conduct inspections, laboratory analyses, and required testing.
• Collect samples, maintain accurate records, and prepare required reports.

Required profile

• Legal authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to pass criminal background check, fingerprinting, and pre‑employment drug screening.
• Willingness to complete a 12‑month probationary period.

Required skills

• Certification under Wis. Adm. Code Chapter NR 114 for wastewater and waterworks operations.
