Volunteer WordPress / PHP Developer

About the role

We are looking for a volunteer WordPress/PHP developer to join our founding team building community‑owned digital services. The role focuses on creating and maintaining open‑source WordPress platforms that enable access to learning, services and community tools, delivering real social impact.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain WordPress sites using PHP, creating and customizing themes and plugins.
• Integrate open‑source tools, fix bugs and optimise performance.
• Collaborate with the digital team to deliver functional, secure and accessible systems.
• Apply security and accessibility standards, document code and processes clearly.
• Support ongoing platform growth and long‑term sustainability.

Required profile

• Experience or strong ability with WordPress and PHP.
• Knowledge of HTML, CSS and basic JavaScript.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and a willingness to learn deeply.
• Comfortable working long‑term in collaborative, remote teams.
• Commitment to ethical practice, data protection and community‑focused technology.
