Wing Structural Analysis Internship (12.5 months)

About the role

Join Airbus' Wing Structural Design team in Broughton for a 12.5‑month placement focused on static stress, fatigue & damage tolerance and Finite Element Method analysis. You will work alongside the Plant Engineering Team and support the A400M programme while seeing real wing assemblies daily.

Key responsibilities

• Solve structural analysis problems using Static Stress, F&DT and FEM methods, including extracting data from previous analyses and performing new FEM simulations.
• Create and maintain technical documentation for analysis results.
• Communicate findings to mentors and senior engineers.
• Participate in wing modification projects, coordinating with multiple engineering teams.
• Investigate manufacturing optimisation challenges and propose enhancements to meet future build rates.
• Define personal development goals, such as learning Java or Python.

Required profile

• Undergraduate studying Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with graduation after the placement.
• Basic understanding of aircraft structural design principles.
• Strong problem‑solving attitude and ability to work autonomously.
• Good communication skills and willingness to learn metallic and composite structures.
• Motivation to develop programming or optimisation skills.
