1:1 Learning Support Assistant

About the role

The Supply Register, in partnership with Lewisham College, is seeking compassionate individuals to provide one‑to‑one learning support for students with additional needs. This temporary, full‑time position offers the chance to make a tangible difference to learners’ educational journeys by delivering personalised assistance both inside and outside the classroom.

Key responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to learners with SEND, EHCPs or other additional needs.
• Assist learners in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in lessons.
• Support academic, social, emotional and communication requirements.
• Encourage independence, confidence and engagement in learning activities.
• Promote positive behaviour and help learners achieve agreed targets.
• Liaise with lecturers, learning support teams and external professionals to ensure appropriate provision.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.

Required profile

• GCSE Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
• Experience supporting young people or adults in education, care or similar settings.
• Understanding of SEND and inclusive learning practices.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Patient, empathetic and adaptable approach.
