1:1 Learning Support Assistant – SEND School

About the role

Prospero Teaching is looking for a dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant to work in a specialist SEND secondary school in Fareham. You will provide personalised support to pupils with learning difficulties, autism, sensory and language challenges, helping them access learning, regulate emotions and build independence.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one support to secondary pupils with learning difficulties, autism, sensory and language needs.
• Help pupils access the curriculum, regulate emotions and develop independence.
• Assist with behaviour management while maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Support sensory and communication requirements, promoting wellbeing.

Required profile

• Calm and patient with strong behaviour management skills.
• Motivational approach to encourage engagement, communication and confidence.
• Excellent communication, caring and self‑reflective.
• Experience supporting young people with autism, learning difficulties or language needs.
• Right to work in the UK and willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS.
