1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Autism Support (KS1)

About the role
This full‑time, long‑term position supports a Key Stage 1 pupil with autism and social‑emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) in a primary school in Barking, East London. You will work one‑to‑one with the child, delivering tailored interventions and helping them thrive in the classroom.
Key responsibilities
- Provide dedicated 1:1 learning support to a KS1 child with ASD.
- Implement a range of evidence‑based interventions targeting social, emotional and behavioural development.
- Collaborate with the SENCo, teachers and external therapists (speech & language, drama, etc.).
- Monitor progress and adjust support strategies as needed.
Required profile
- Graduate degree from a recognised university.
- Proven experience supporting children with SEN, particularly autism.
- Strong understanding of SEMH and inclusive education practices.
- Resilient, committed, playful and innovative attitude.
