1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant (KS2) – ASD, ADHD & SEMH

About the role

Randstad Education is partnering with a supportive primary school in Liverpool to recruit a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant for Key Stage 2 pupils. You will work closely with a single child who has autism, ADHD and/or SEMH needs, helping them access the curriculum and manage emotional challenges.

Key responsibilities

• Adapt KS2 curriculum tasks into engaging, accessible activities tailored to the pupil’s learning style.
• Provide emotional regulation support using co‑regulation techniques and calm‑down strategies.
• Implement visual timetables, sensory breaks and structured routines to aid daily transitions.
• Collaborate with the class teacher, SENCo and Randstad consultant to monitor progress against the IEP.
• Maintain consistent, reliable support throughout the placement.

Required profile

• Experience or strong interest in supporting children with ASD, ADHD or SEMH.
• Patience, calm demeanor and ability to stay grounded during challenging moments.
• Proactive mindset to recognise triggers and introduce preventative sensory or movement breaks.
• Reliability and commitment to consistent attendance.

Required skills

• Knowledge of visual timetable creation and sensory regulation techniques.
• Ability to adapt teaching materials for diverse learning needs.
