1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Multi‑Site (Year 8)

About the role

This full‑time, temporary‑to‑permanent position supports a Year 8 pupil with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs across several sites in Bury. The role is highly rewarding for an experienced SEN professional who can build trust, promote safety and help the pupil access education.

Key responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for the pupil across multiple educational settings.
• Build a positive, consistent relationship using trauma‑informed approaches.
• Assist the pupil in learning activities and encourage positive outcomes.
• Implement behaviour support plans, manage risk and maintain accurate records.
• Collaborate with teachers, pastoral teams, safeguarding leads and external agencies.
• Support transitions between sites and activities, ensuring safety and emotional resilience.

Required profile

• Strong SEN experience, especially with SEMH needs.
• Proven ability to manage challenging behaviour and emotional regulation.
• Calm, professional demeanor in high‑pressure situations.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between sites.

Required skills

• Knowledge of trauma‑informed practice and behaviour support strategies.
• Experience with positive handling/restraint training (e.g., Cambian, Team Teach, PRICE, MAPA) is desirable.
