1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary SEND (Year 1)

About the role

This full‑time, temporary position supports a Year 1 pupil with high‑needs autism on a 1:1 basis within a specialist classroom in Westminster. You will work alongside an experienced Teaching Assistant who leads the daily planning and delivery of the SEND provision.

Key responsibilities

• Provide individual, structured support for a non‑verbal child with autism throughout the school day.
• Facilitate sensory‑based activities and help the pupil engage with the curriculum.
• Maintain consistent routines and encourage positive behaviour.
• Collaborate with the lead Teaching Assistant and other staff to monitor progress.
• Assist with the preparation of learning materials and classroom organisation.

Required profile

• Minimum of one year experience in EYFS or Key Stage 1.
• Previous experience supporting children with autism and additional needs.
• Calm, resilient and able to respond positively to challenging situations.
• Strong relationship‑building skills with children and staff.
• Passionate about helping SEND pupils achieve their potential.

• Full‑time hours: 8:30 am‑4:00 pm, Monday‑Friday.
