1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant – Year 2 (Milton Keynes)

About the role

This full‑time, long‑term position supports a Year 2 pupil with special educational needs in a welcoming primary school in Milton Keynes. Starting September 2026, you will work closely with the class teacher, SENDCo and parents to deliver consistent, tailored assistance throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 2 pupil with SEND.
• Facilitate access to learning activities inside and outside the classroom.
• Implement strategies from the pupil’s EHCP or individual support plan.
• Encourage development of communication, social skills, confidence and independence.
• Support emotional regulation and promote positive behaviour for learning.
• Adapt resources and activities to meet the child’s individual needs.
• Monitor progress and give feedback to teaching staff.

Required profile

• Genuine passion for supporting children with SEND.
• Patient, nurturing and empathetic approach.
• Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with young children.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Proactive, flexible and responsive to changing needs.
• Experience with autism, ADHD, speech & language, SEMH or other additional learning needs is desirable.
• Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.
