1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant – Year 4 (Autism & PDA)

About the role

We are seeking a compassionate 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition and Pathological Demand Avoidance in a primary school in Camden, London. The role begins as soon as possible and runs term‑time only, linked to EHCP funding.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one support for learning, emotional regulation, social development and sensory needs.
• Implement the pupil’s individualised programme, including SALT, OT and IEP targets.
• Deliver interventions both inside and outside the classroom as required.
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, parents and school staff to ensure a smooth hand‑over from the previous private tutor.
• Offer intimate personal care when needed.

Required profile

• Minimum two years’ experience working in SEND within a school setting.
• Demonstrated experience with Autism Spectrum Condition and PDA.
• Knowledge of trauma‑informed practice and de‑escalation strategies.
• Empathetic, patient, adaptable and able to build a trusting relationship with the pupil.

Required skills

• Ability to follow and deliver individualised programmes (SALT/OT/IEP).
• Experience supporting social communication development.
