1:1 Teaching Assistant for Year 1 (ASD & ADHD) – Full‑Time

About the role

We are looking for a confident, resilient and nurturing Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 1 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and ADHD. The role starts in September 2026 at a Brent‑based primary school and is full‑time.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver one‑to‑one assistance to help the child access the curriculum and reach their potential.
• Apply calm, consistent and structured behaviour‑management strategies to support emotional regulation.
• Build a trusting relationship while maintaining clear expectations and boundaries.
• Adapt learning activities to the child’s individual needs in collaboration with the class teacher and SENCO.
• Encourage positive social interaction, independence and confidence throughout the school day.
• Support transitions, sensory needs and routines to ensure the child feels safe and ready to learn.

• Confident in setting clear boundaries while building positive relationships.
• Reliable, punctual and a strong team player.
• Passionate about supporting children with additional needs and eager to develop further through training.

Required skills

• Experience supporting children with ASD and ADHD, preferably in a primary school setting.
• Knowledge of sensory regulation, behaviour support and de‑escalation techniques.
• Ability to work closely with teachers, SENCO and other professionals.
