About the role
We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide personalised academic, emotional and behavioural support to a pupil in a supportive, inclusive school in Barnsley. The role starts in September 2026 and is ideal for a patient, resilient individual who can build positive relationships.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver one‑to‑one support tailored to the pupil’s learning, emotional and developmental needs.
- Assist the pupil in accessing classroom activities and adapt resources to promote engagement.
- Implement agreed behaviour strategies and interventions to encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation.
- Observe, record and report on the pupil’s academic, social and emotional progress.
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, parents and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
Required profile
- Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational, care, sports or support setting.
- Patient, empathetic and supportive approach with strong communication skills.
- Ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils.
- Experience with SEN, SEMH, Autism, ADHD or additional learning needs is advantageous.
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one through Reeson Education.

- No specific technical skills required.
