1:1 Teaching Assistant – Non‑Verbal Child

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil who is non‑verbal and diagnosed with autism. The role is based in a welcoming primary school in Knutsford and offers a long‑term, full‑time placement working closely with teaching staff and SEN professionals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide tailored 1:1 support to the pupil throughout the school day.
• Facilitate communication using the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).
• Collaborate with teachers and SEN specialists to implement individualized learning plans.
• Support the child in a dedicated learning space, often outside the main classroom.
• Assist with personal care, including nappy changing, as required.

Required profile

• Experience working with children who have autism and complex SEND.
• Comfortable providing personal care – this is a mandatory requirement.
• Calm, patient and resilient approach.
• Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with the pupil.
• Reliable attendance and commitment to a long‑term placement.
