1:1 Teaching Assistant – Primary School (Chatham)

About the role

We are looking for a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs in a busy primary school in Chatham. The role starts in September 2026 on a fixed‑term basis and offers the chance to make a real difference to a child's learning journey.

Key responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to the assigned pupil throughout the school day.
• Assist with learning activities, engagement and emotional wellbeing.
• Collaborate closely with teachers, the SENCO and the pupil’s parents or carers.
• Help create an inclusive, positive classroom environment.
• Encourage independence and confidence in the pupil.

Required profile

• Previous experience working in Special Educational Needs (SEN) settings.
• Experience supporting children on a 1:1 basis is highly desirable.
• Patient, nurturing and adaptable approach.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• DBS check on the Update Service is ideal.

Required skills

• DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one).
