1:1 Teaching Assistant – Support Child with Learning Needs

About the role

Randstad Education is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to work closely with a single pupil who requires focused academic and behavioural support. This temporary, full‑time position is based in the PR8 area and offers the chance to make a lasting impact on a child's educational journey. You will collaborate with teachers and the SENCO to ensure the child's Individual Education Plan is met.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver personalised 1:1 academic tasks tailored to the child's learning pace.
• Implement positive behaviour support techniques and de‑escalate frustrations.
• Assist the child during transitions, assemblies, and playground activities.
• Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor EHCP targets.
• Maintain a safe and supportive learning environment throughout the school day.

Required profile

• Prior experience supporting children with complex needs or challenging behaviours.
• Strong emotional intelligence, resilience and patience.
• Willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS check on the update service.
• Commitment to the child's wellbeing and educational progress.
