About the role
This full‑time, term‑time position supports a Year 1 pupil with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in a primary school near Ellesmere Port. The role starts in September 2026 and requires a proactive, calm professional who can ensure the child’s safety while fostering independence.
Key responsibilities
- Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day.
- Implement behaviour and support strategies directed by the SENDCo and teaching staff.
- Build a positive, nurturing relationship with the child.
- Maintain the child’s safety while encouraging engagement and independence.
- Remain calm and professional during challenging situations, such as when the child attempts to leave the classroom.
Required profile
- Energetic, resilient and committed to supporting a child with ASD.
- Vigilant and physically active to respond confidently to a highly active pupil.
- Ability to stay calm under pressure and manage occasional dysregulation.
