1st Line Technical Support Engineer – Automation Products

About the role

This position is the first point of contact for installers, engineers and customers who use a range of automatic gates, traffic barriers, doors and access‑control systems. You will work from a modern office in Basingstoke, providing technical advice and fault‑finding support for a leading UK manufacturer.

Key responsibilities

• Provide first‑line technical support via telephone and email across the UK.
• Diagnose electrical and electronic faults on automation products.
• Assist engineers with installation, commissioning and programming tasks.
• Guide customers on product selection and application suitability.
• Identify required spare parts and recommend replacement components.
• Escalate complex technical issues to senior engineers when necessary.
• Develop specialist knowledge of the full product portfolio through manufacturer training.

Required profile

• Background in electrical, electronics, automation or electro‑mechanical engineering.
• Experience in field service, installation or commissioning of electromechanical systems.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly to a non‑technical audience.
• Motivation to work in a stable office environment rather than a travelling role.
