3rd Line IT Support Technician - office based in Preston

About the role

We are looking for a skilled 2nd/3rd Line IT Support Technician to join a manufacturing business in Preston. Working on‑site, you will provide advanced technical support to ensure the reliability and security of the company’s IT infrastructure.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver 2nd and 3rd line support for hardware, software and network incidents, escalating from 1st line as needed.
• Maintain and monitor servers, networks and core infrastructure to maximise uptime for production systems.
• Manage user accounts, permissions and security within Active Directory and Microsoft 365.
• Support backup, disaster recovery and business continuity processes.
• Assist with IT projects such as system upgrades, migrations and new implementations.
• Liaise with production, engineering and operations teams as well as third‑party vendors.

Required profile

• Proven experience in a 2nd or 3rd line IT support role.
• Strong knowledge of Windows Server, desktop environments and Microsoft 365/Office 365.
• Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy and user management.
• Good understanding of networking concepts and virtualisation technologies.
• Awareness of cybersecurity best practices.
• Relevant IT certifications (e.g., Microsoft, CompTIA, Cisco) are desirable.
