ACA Qualified Senior Portfolio Accountant

About the role

We are looking for an ACA‑qualified senior professional to lead the Accounting & Finance function for a respected chartered accountancy practice in Dorset. The role offers the opportunity to manage a diverse client portfolio and to eventually take ownership of the practice within five years.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Accounting & Finance department.
• Develop and implement strategic financial plans aligned with business objectives.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and professional service industry regulations.
• Prepare, review and present financial reports and statements for clients.
• Manage and grow a portfolio of client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact.
• Lead, coach and develop a small team of accountants, fostering a high‑performance culture.
• Utilise CCH software for accounting, reporting and financial management.
• Collaborate with other departments to deliver seamless service and identify growth opportunities.

Required profile

• ACA qualification (essential) with several years of experience in an accountancy practice.
• Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• Proven leadership and team‑management abilities.
• Strong analytical, decision‑making and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and client‑service orientation.
