Academic Skills Coach – Student Development

About the role
The Academic Skills Coach will deliver specialist coaching and personalised development support to help students achieve their academic goals. Working on‑site at the University of Huddersfield London Campus, you will empower a diverse cohort of international students to develop effective study practices, academic literacy and independent learning skills.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one academic skills coaching covering reading, note‑taking, critical analysis, academic writing, research and digital skills.
- Support students in developing study habits, time‑management, goal‑setting and self‑regulation.
- Identify barriers to success and create personalised action plans for at‑risk students.
- Design, develop and deliver workshops, webinars and group sessions on academic skills.
- Create engaging learning resources and digital content.
- Collaborate with academic staff to integrate skills development into the curriculum.
- Monitor student engagement and contribute to retention and progression initiatives.
Required profile
- Experience in academic coaching or student development within higher education.
- Ability to work with a diverse, international student population.
- Strong understanding of academic integrity and evidence‑informed interventions.
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills.
