Academic Tutor – 1:1 Support for Vulnerable Children

About the role
Randstad Education is seeking compassionate Academic Tutors to provide one‑to‑one tuition for vulnerable children in the North East. You will work directly with pupils who are looked after or in crisis care, helping them build confidence and close gaps in core subjects.
Key responsibilities
- Deliver tailored, engaging 1:1 tuition in English, Maths and Science for pupils ranging from KS1 to KS4.
- Create a safe, supportive learning environment that encourages participation.
- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting lessons to meet both academic and emotional needs.
- Collaborate with foster carers, residential support workers and local authorities to ensure a coordinated approach.
Required profile
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) or a degree‑level qualification in a core subject.
- Experience tutoring or teaching children, particularly those with educational gaps.
- Patient, empathetic and resilient attitude.
- Willingness to obtain an enhanced DBS on the update service.
