Accommodation Support Officer – HMP Exeter

About the role

We are seeking an Accommodation Support Officer to work with adult male participants in HMP Exeter. You will assess housing needs, develop personalised accommodation plans and support individuals through the probation process.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments to identify each participant’s housing requirements.
• Develop and implement tailored accommodation plans, coordinating interventions with probation practitioners.
• Inform participants of decisions, rights and procedural steps throughout the process.
• Maintain accurate case records and monitor progress against agreed outcomes.
• Build and sustain professional relationships with participants, external agencies and internal stakeholders.

Required profile

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work with diverse backgrounds and challenging environments.
• Knowledge of homelessness legislation or experience in the criminal‑justice sector (preferred).
• Commitment to encouraging positive behavioural change.
