Accommodation Support Officer – HMP Liverpool & Altcourse

About the role

As an Accommodation Support Officer you will manage a caseload of adult males in custody at HMP Liverpool and HMP Altcourse. Working closely with probation practitioners and other key stakeholders, you will assess individual needs and develop tailored accommodation plans to help participants move towards stability and independence.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a caseload of prisoners and conduct initial assessments of their accommodation needs.
• Develop and implement personalised housing plans using structured interventions.
• Support participants in navigating housing challenges and keep them informed of relevant decisions.
• Liaise with probation officers, prison staff and external agencies to coordinate support.
• Promote understanding of rights, responsibilities and available services.

Required profile

• People‑focused with strong empathy and resilience.
• Ability to build trust and rapport with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
• Adaptable and comfortable working in a dynamic, prison environment.
• Open to candidates from social services, mental health, education, criminal justice or recent graduates.
