Accommodation Support Worker – Manchester

About the role

Join a dedicated team delivering high‑quality temporary accommodation and support for people experiencing homelessness in Manchester. You will act as a key point of contact within the Homelessness Service, helping residents secure stable housing and access essential services.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out prompt assessments of customers referred for accommodation and ensure a safe environment.
• Provide housing‑related advice, advocacy and support covering benefits, education, employment and resettlement.
• Develop and monitor holistic support plans for customers with complex needs, including those displaying antisocial behaviour.
• Oversee the upkeep of temporary accommodation facilities, managing repairs, health‑and‑safety compliance and rent collection.
• Coordinate building management tasks such as preparing flats for let, organising maintenance and supervising building services staff.
• Maintain accurate records in line with City Council systems and financial regulations.
• Contribute to service improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with corporate policies.

Required profile

• Experience in housing support or a related field.
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with customers and partner agencies.
• Proven ability to plan, organise and prioritise workload in a dynamic environment.
• Competent ICT skills with experience using multiple applications and systems.
• Problem‑solving and decision‑making capability under pressure.
• Willingness to undergo and pass an enhanced DBS disclosure check.

Required skills

• Basic computer literacy and proficiency with standard office software.
