Accountant (6‑month contract)

About the role

This 6‑month contract position supports a large Edinburgh‑based organisation with month‑end and year‑end accounting, as well as broader performance reporting. The successful candidate will work closely with business stakeholders and the finance team to deliver accurate financial information.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare month‑end management accounts, including commentary and analysis.
• Complete consolidated accounts review and make necessary adjustments.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and report any discrepancies.
• Maintain the fixed‑assets register and manage related transactions.
• Own general‑ledger postings and necessary adjustments.
• Collaborate with external auditors during year‑end audit processes.
• Utilise Excel to manipulate large data sets and produce reports.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with strong month‑end and year‑end closing experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work quickly and accurately under tight reporting deadlines.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for engaging with diverse internal stakeholders.
• Availability to start on short notice.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel for data manipulation and reporting.
• Proficiency with general‑ledger accounting processes.
