Accountant – Central London

About the role

Our client is a professional accountancy firm located in Central London, near Charing Cross Station. They deliver accounting, tax, bookkeeping, payroll and advisory services to individuals, SMEs and international businesses. The firm is expanding and seeks an experienced Accountant to join the team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare statutory and management accounts for a portfolio of clients.
• Prepare and submit VAT returns.
• Assist with corporation tax, personal tax and self‑assessment returns.
• Maintain bookkeeping records and perform bank reconciliations.
• Process payroll in line with HMRC requirements.
• Liaise directly with clients to obtain financial information and provide support.
• Support year‑end accounts preparation and audit work as needed.
• Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards and tax regulations.
• Use accounting software such as Freeagent, Xero, QuickBooks, Sage and related systems.
• Assist senior accountants and managers on client assignments and advisory projects.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a UK accountancy practice.
• ACC​A or AAT qualified (or equivalent).
• Strong knowledge of UK accounting principles, VAT and taxation.
• Experience preparing accounts for limited companies, sole traders and partnerships.
• Excellent analytical, problem‑solving and organisational abilities.
• Professional, reliable and client‑focused approach.
