Accountant – Client-Facing Role in Lancaster

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Accountant to join a rapidly expanding accountancy practice in Lancaster. You will manage your own client portfolio, provide trusted advice, and help shape the future direction of the firm.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the primary point of contact for a portfolio of clients, delivering high‑quality accounting services.
• Prepare statutory accounts, financial statements and year‑end reporting.
• Handle VAT returns, corporation tax compliance and liaise with HMRC.
• Review bookkeeping records, perform reconciliations and ensure accuracy.
• Provide commercial insight and financial advice to support client growth.
• Utilise cloud accounting platforms such as FreeAgent and Xero.
• Contribute to process improvements and business development initiatives.

Required profile

• 2–5 years’ experience in an accountancy practice.
• Part‑qualified AAT or ACCA status (or only a few exams remaining).
• Proven ability to manage client portfolios and build long‑term relationships.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge and a proactive learning mindset.
• Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills.
